The Assistant Director of Research and Stewardship reports to the Director of Stewardship and Advancement Services and is responsible for identifying, researching, and analyzing prospects for major gift cultivation and solicitation, and for developing and executing a comprehensive program for donor recognition.
Working collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Advancement Services and Database Management, the successful candidate will plan and execute creative strategies to identify sources of major gifts ($25,000+), using research techniques and electronic searching methodologies to ensure that campus-wide strategic initiatives have sufficient prospects to meet fundraising goals. This position is an integral member of the advancement team, as Episcopal is in the quiet phase of the largest comprehensive campaign in the School’s history.
Providing research and analysis on individuals, corporations, and foundations to assess financial capacity, philanthropic tendencies, giving propensity, and attachment to Episcopal;
Researching potential volunteers for leadership positions, stewardship events, Advisory Council, Board of Trustees, and annual fund and campaign committees;
Writing documents, including profiles, biographies, project summaries, stewardship reports, and donor correspondence;
Working with vendors and on-campus personnel to design and install donor recognition plaques, signage, etc.;
Working with advancement staff and vendors to develop and maintain an inventory of stewardship gifts and event-related items;
Developing and executing database queries in support of advancement events and communications.
A minimum of four years of relevant, full-time experience in independent schools, higher education, or other nonprofit
Expertise in working in databases and analyzing queries (Raiser’s Edge experience preferred);
Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Able to work with discretion, confidentiality, and ethical standards
