This position is under the direct supervision of the Chief Executive Officer. This position is responsible for creating and administering a comprehensive development strategy. This position will oversee grant-making, marketing, and special events and will maintain, enhance, and diversify the organization’s comprehensive funding capabilities. This position will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer to develop and enrich constituent and donor relationships. The Chief Development Officer will collaborate with the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer to create a fund development plan which increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization.
The Chief Development Officer works with the CEO, Board and management team to create and articulate a comprehensive development strategy to include specific focus on major donor fundraising, corporation and foundations and direct responses. He/she will establish clear goals and implementation strategies, for both short and long term. The CDO will be a dynamic contributor of ideas and strategies focusing on the development of major donors and will work with the senior leadership team to determine a proactive long-term strategy for sustainable philanthropic funding.
The CDO will develop and lead a systematic communication, identification and cultivation process for donors at all levels, including major donors, corporations, and foundations. He/she will work with staff to create meaningful ways to broaden the organization’s support, increase visibility and reach new prospective donors.
The CDO will work with the CEO, Board of Directors, and staff with the management team to develop a compelling brand delivered through clear and targeted communication plans to effectively brand the organization and reinforce overall messaging in regards to Coastal Georgia Area Community Action Authority supporters and constituents.
Self-starter, enthusiastic, aggressive, a people person, creative, goal-oriented, and a visionary Experience with and strong comprehension of how to develop long term, strategic relationships Understanding of government funding requirements and proposals Ability to build relationships and work well with corporate and community leaders Must possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License an acceptable Criminal Background Check and pre-employment Drug Screen and have 5 years of experience in multi-faceted development and sales/marketing/public relations work in which you were fully responsible for outcomes
