IAVM is seeking a dedicated and experienced sales professional with a background in association membership sales. The position will be responsible for revenue growth which aligns with our annual budget goals.
The Membership Sales Specialist will be responsible for acquiring new members from these venue types: arenas, convention centers, exhibit halls, amphitheaters, fairgrounds, performing arts centers, stadiums, universities, race tracks, casinos, etc. A priority will be to increase Allied Membership, companies that provide products and services to the venue industry. Individual will present to all management levels of an organization as a sales/membership representative.
The position is responsible for generating, researching, and qualifying new leads through sales activities such as making daily cold calls, prospecting, telemarketing and relationship building. In addition, the position will effectively utilize and optimize leads from on-going marketing activities and lists, some of which may originate from affiliate organizations and trade shows.
Excellent communication skills are required, verbal and written, as the position will present benefits via video and at face-to-face events. Write content for recruitment campaigns that conveys the value of membership as well as responding to daily inquiries from prospects is required. Samples of writing will be requested during the interview. The position will provide routine sales reports that outline achievements towards the department’s revenue and membership goals. The position reports to the Director of Membership.
Process, track, and nurture qualified membership leads with the goal of converting them to membership. Responsible for identifying and developing potential new members in all membership categories, Professional, Allied, Faculty, Student and Group Memberships.
Support direct mail campaign efforts as outlined by director.
Collaborate with staff members to leverage existing programs and activities for the acquisition of new members.
Proactively drive revenue growth by achieving new member goals as defined in the budget. Demonstrate continuous sales growth in all membership categories.
Conducts a minimum quota of daily sales calls in addition to writing content for email recruitment campaigns.
Respond to general inquiries from prospects and past members.
Review goals consistently to ensure they align with overall department goals to meet fiscal year objectives.
Assist with retention efforts to retain members as required, including making reminder calls to secure membership renewals
Follow-up with prospects attending IAVM conferences and schools (includes face-to-face and virtual events) to convert them to membership.
Attend industry events to promote IAVM as needed, including VenueConnect and local Chapter Meetings annually
Devise and implement strategies and initiatives to grow database prospects and cultivate new leads.
Handle other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS REQUIRED:
3-5 years of association membership, marketing, or sales experience preferred
Degree preferred in Marketing, Business Management, Sports Management, Hotel Management or a related field. An equivalent of both education and experience will be considered.
Experience with sales/membership databases or customer relationship management systems.
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, preferred
Excellent written, verbal, analytical and organizational skills.
Goal-oriented, ambitious, motivated self-starter while demonstrating good judgment.
Manage multiple and simultaneous projects and demands through efficient use of time.
Commitment to customer service excellence.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with different personality types.
Ability to travel as needed.
Additional Salary Information: Commission is possible based on goals met and/or exceeded.
