We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Manager Customer Collections and Credit on our Finance team.
In this role, you will develop and maintain positive key business relationships with internal and external customers and drive department efficiencies, develop collections and credit policies and procedures to support AMA sales efforts while minimizing associated risk and expense, and manage an effective department, and develop staff, and collaborate in a matrix environment.
Collaborate regularly with various internal business units to assess and mitigate risk on accounts
Build strong relationships with external clients to foster open communications
Research clients to understand their industry, pay trends and external environmental factors
Responsible for leading a collections department, implementing policies, following internal processes, monthly reporting and monitoring all past due accounts
Develop work standards, objectives and operating procedures
Researches and analyzes assigned past due accounts prior to initiating debtor contact; examines historical data and evaluates past collection efforts
Consistently responds to customer inquiries in a timely manner and maintains files on all past due accounts, documenting details of methods utilized to secure payments; prepares “pre-final” and “final” demand letters in accordance with established schedules
Recommends accounts to be turned over to collection agencies or for litigation; once approved, places accounts with collection agencies
Keeps Treasury Management up to date on any problem accounts or situation which may require management intervention (write off, settlement negotiation, on hold, etc.)
Review credit application packages: ensure all required data is in the application, and obtain all required credit, bank and other reference checks
Analyze financial statements, bank statements, tax returns and any other relevant documents to determine the credit worthiness; make recommendation regarding payment and credit terms
Monitor and report on credit line balances, determine if accounts on credit hold status should be permitted to ship new orders and make change recommendations as needed
Carry out the Credit and Collection Policy to achieve established goals
Manage staff; provide training, performance management (APEX goal setting and performance reviews), delegation of tasks and monitoring quality process workflow

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or General Business Administration required 2. Minimum 5 years of credit and collection experience is required 3. Previous management experience required 4. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers 5. Experience with royalties and display advertising preferred 6. Excellent communications skill, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills, required 7. Experience in determining the credit worthiness of customers required 8. Experience with Lawson, JD Edwards, DocuSign and Salesforce is preferred 9. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite required
