Specific Title: Assoc./Professor of Diabetes Research with Endowed Chair - Diabetes and Metabolic Disease Focus Location: IU School of Medicine Department: IUSM - Medicine - Endocrinology Campus: IU School of Medicine Indianapolis Position Announcement: The Endocrinology Division, Department of Medicine and the Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases at the Indiana University School of Medicine are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative basic, translational, or clinical diabetes researcher at the rank of Associate/Full Professor with an Endowed Chair. The successful applicant may have a track record of research excellence and funding in a broad range of topics related to diabetes and/or metabolism. This may include a clinical/translational focus in diabetes epidemiology, genetics of diabetes (type 1 or type 2), informatics, innovations in care delivery, health care disparities, or other similar topics. The successful applicant may also have a basic science interest in topics including (but not limited to) the immunology of type 1 diabetes, beta cell biology, peripheral insulin signaling, adipose biology, stem cell biology, or diabetes-associated complications. Faculty would be joining a vibrant diabetes research community within the IU School of Medicine, which is part of a broader diabetes research ecosystem in Indiana that includes public and private partners. IUSM is the home to the Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases (CDMD), one of 18 NIH P30 funded Diabetes Research Centers. The CDMD provides support for research cores, pilot and feasibility grant funding, and a number of enrichment activities, including an Annual Diabetes Symposium and weekly multidisciplinary seminar series. IUSM diabetes faculty provide leadership to several large national and international multisite networks and studies, including Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet, the Network for Pancreatic Organ Donors with Diabetes (nPOD), the Integrated Islet Distribution Program, the Immune Tolerance Network, the Restoring Insulin Secretion (RISE) study, the Comparative Effectiveness Study of Major Glycemia-lowering Medications for Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes (GRADE), the Human Islet Research Network, and the Rare and Atypical Diabetes Network (RADIANT). IUSM is home to the NIH-funded Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI), which is a statewide research partnership between IU, Purdue, and Notre Dame University. IUSM is also affiliated with the prestigious Regenstrief Institute, a national and international leader in patient-centered research and health informatics, and the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute, connecting academic institutions and industry partners in Indiana. Maintain and expand a strong, extramurally-funded diabetes research program in translational/clinical diabetes research Contribute to the academic mission of IU and the CDMD Be committed to training the next generation of diabetes researchers Ample opportunities for research and collaboration, including: The Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases, an NIH-funded P30 Center with state of the art research cores, Pilot and Feasibility program, and Enrichment program.
