A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Stanley Lee at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. The Lee lab has a longstanding interest in understanding how defects in RNA processing and chromatin regulation drive hematologic malignancies, and how to devise mechanism-based strategies to therapeutically target these pathways in cancer (PMIDs: 30107174 , 27135740 , 27603132 , 31334570 .) Fred Hutch also offers a great research environment including state-of-the-art Shared Resources and Core Facilities and a robust Postdoctoral Fellowship Program to provide advanced training for future scientific leaders.
The successful candidate will be responsible for project design, execution, management and data analysis relating to RNA processing/chromatin regulation in stem cell biology and blood cancers. Projects will use a variety of experimental and computational approaches including in vitro and in vivo models (genetically engineered murine models (GEMMs) and patient derived xenografts (PDXs)), transcriptomic, epigenomic and proteomic analyses, molecular assays and functional genomics approaches. The fellow will work directly with the PI, members of the laboratory and external collaborators. The fellow will be expected to acquire a thorough understanding of the scientific literature, present in internal and external meetings, and draft manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.
A recent PhD or MD/PhD in a relevant field
Strong background in RNA biology, chromatin biology, cancer genetics, and/or computational biology is highly desirable
Some experience in stem cell biology, immunology, and/or developmental biology
Experience in flow cytometry, cell culture and murine models
Research publications from graduate work
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to think and work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
