Yellowstone Forever is the official nonprofit education and philanthropic partner of Yellowstone National Park, the world’s first national park. The organization was formed in 2016 as a result of a merger between the Yellowstone Association and the Yellowstone Park Foundation. Yellowstone Forever connects people to Yellowstone National Park through outstanding visitor experiences and educational programs and translates those experiences into lifelong support and philanthropic investment to conserve and enhance the Park for the future.
The President & CEO will have responsibility for the day-to-day management of the organization including strategic, programmatic, fiscal, and operational accountability. The President & CEO will work to integrate the staff, operations, systems, and procedures across the two current geographies in Bozeman and Gardiner, Montana, and build a culture that recognizes one organization supporting the Park with a broad and bold mission. The President & CEO will work in partnership with the superintendent of the Park, park staff, and Yellowstone Forever’s board of directors to drive the long-term strategy and achieve ambitious goals on behalf of Yellowstone National Park.
Yellowstone Forever seeks a leader and advocate who is passionate about its mission and legacy, committed to its longstanding standards of excellence, supportive of its culture, and strategic about its future potential. The person must be ready to join with the Board to lead Yellowstone Forever in pursuing new strategic goals in resource development, education, and engagement through a proven ability in strategic leadership, fundraising, financial management and oversight, collaborative ventures, and constituency building.
A high level of experience in building and sustaining community, national and international partnerships with other key stakeholders, public and private, is necessary. The ideal candidate will have a background that includes a high-level of strategic leadership and management combined with an extraordinary understanding of relationship-driven philanthropy, partnership and constituent management.
Executive level achievement in the fields of philanthropy, conservation, environmental education, advocacy, policy, law and/or related fields is preferred but not required. Nonprofit management experience is desired. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required; a Master’s degree is desired. A genuine and authentic connection to nature and the outdoors is a must.
