Ann’s Place is a compassionate cancer support nonprofit organization located at 80 Saw Mill Road, Danbury, CT. We serve those who are facing cancer, as well as their loved ones, with psycho-social services such as professional counseling, support groups, financial assistance and wellness activities. We help those in the midst of their cancer experience create a path to improving their quality of life. We do not charge clients any fees for this support. While our paid staff is a fairly small team of about 12, we have 36 pro-bono clinicians and wellness staff, and also engage over 1,000 passionate and caring volunteers in many capacities throughout the year.
The Director, Clinical Services is responsible for Ann’s Place Client services which include counseling, support groups and wellness activities. The Director oversees the work of the clinical staff, the volunteer facilitators and wellness practitioners. S/he also collaborates with other agency staff, volunteers, members of health care teams, other social service agencies, local/regional hospitals and hospices, and medical centers.
Position responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following:
Develops and plans Ann’s Place clinical services:
Manages staff and the roster of clinical staff to ensure coverage.
As part of the annual Budget Planning process, and with input from the clinical staff on annual programmatic needs, works with the President-CEO to develop the Client Services budget including staffing levels, training plans.
Makes use of analyses of data in AP client database to anticipate needs 12+ months ahead.
Listens to needs from our client community for clinical, educational, and support services; ensures development of tools/surveys to gather input.
Prepares a bi-monthly clinical report for the President-CEO; prepares an annual report for the Board of Directors.
Networks with and develops referrals from collaborative partners, including Community Cancer Collaborative and other appropriate networks.
Coaches, mentors and supervises all clinical staff. Additionally, maintains confidentiality for any information related to an employee, including pay, health information etc.
Responsible for clinical team meetings/case conferences and setting up supervision training meetings with facilitators, wellness practitioners and clinical staff.
Ensures clinical policies and procedures are current for employees as well as volunteers in the client services area; informs staff of any policy changes.
Networks in the community to identify and recruit qualified volunteer and salaried clinical staff.
Oversees clinical internships or practicum programs in concert with the associated university.
Facilitates groups and provides individual therapy on as needed basis.
Oversees development and implementation of a clinical training and professional development for client services staff.
Ensures high quality of data input for the databases used for client services.
Adheres to other relevant job-related and confidential requirements as stated in the AP Employee Policies Handbook.
Required Education & Experience:
Active CT LCSW with expertise in oncology, palliative care or end-of-life. Will consider LMFT if s/he has a specialty in oncology.
Post-graduate degree required; degree can be in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy or in a related clinical field.
Eight or more years of relevant clinical experience post graduate degree.
Oncology Social Work Certification is desirable, or willingness to work towards certification.
Demonstrated experience working with people with chronic or life-threatening illness in group and individual settings.
The Director must be available some evenings and weekends. There are evening programs 3-4 days a week to meet the needs of working clients. The Director must spend time each week monitoring these programs with his/her staff. There are about 6-8 weekend events throughout the year.
Works collegially with other AP staff members and volunteers to ensure a positive work atmosphere. Where possible, shares and learns relevant know-how to/from others. Assists colleagues with client reception and general housekeeping and when Ann’s Place is preparing for an event, seminar, large meeting, support groups etc.
Attends staff meetings as required.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, data bases, and spreadsheets
Salary Range: $75K-$85K
