The goal of the Specialized Mouse Services (SMS) core is to provide access to immune compromised murine and xenograft technical services for preclinical studies by investigators with limited murine technical resources. The SMS core maintains production colonies of immune compromised murine, and conducts a full range of xenografting, monitoring, imaging and tissue sampling services.
The applicant must have experience handling murine, be well organized, maintain good records, and display excellent communication skills. Main responsibilities will include coordinating with researchers to initiate experiments and technical services, and performing various technical services, such as surgeries, injections, blood draws, non-invasive imaging, and tissue harvests. The applicant will also assist in maintaining the Core database, inputting data into spreadsheets, billing and other administrative duties. Working an occasional weekend and holiday may be required for supporting the research.
Minimum of a Bachelors degree in biological science
8+ years' murine model research experience
Must be able to perform IP injections, IV injections, SQ injections, blood draws and tissue harvests
Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
Must be able to independently prioritize assignments and complete procedures in a timely manner
Must be willing to work as part of a team
Attention to detail and meticulous record-keeping
Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
