A growing membership association located in the Magnificent Mile, Chicago is seeking a highly motivated, organized and accurate Director of Finance/Controller to manage all aspect of the accounting and financial activities of the association and its affiliates.
This position reports to the Executive Director and provides the following services:
Develops and manages annual operating budget.
Prepares detailed monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports with comparative totals for the prior year.
Manages and oversees the bank accounts.
Manages and oversees the investment portfolios.
Administers employees’ salary, manages benefits package and prepares reports to the governmental agencies.
Periodically, recodes and restructures the current accounting system to improve record keeping and reports.
Periodically prepares and files on a timely basis various financial and tax reports to local, state and federal agencies.
Supervises and manages all receipts and disbursements.
Provides on a regular basis cost analysis of the Association’s special events, programs and legal expenses.
Assists staff in maintenance and improvement of office database systems.
Supervises and manages all receipts, disbursements, bank accounts and files tax reports.
Supervises the monthly accounting transactions for the Association and its affiliates.
Manages and oversees all purchases including printing, equipment and others by obtaining various bids.
Assists the Executive Director in overall management of the Headquarters Office including staff attendance, office maintenance, lease negotiation and other tasks.
Prepares all annual audit worksheets and schedules to contain audit fees.
Prepares minutes of the Finance Committee meetings.
Assists the Executive Director on special projects, HR needs and performs other duties as assigned.
The applicant must have a CPA certificate or master’s degree in accounting and have a minimum of five years of experience in managing the financial activities (nonprofit association experience is preferred). Must be very efficient in Word, Excel and QuickBooks.
