The Accounting team oversees a wide range of financial functions in support of the Hutchs mission. Team responsibilities include financial reporting, financial policy setting, audit coordination, banking, capital assets, service agreements, tax and regulatory filings, internal and data controls and transaction processing.
The Accounts Receivable Supervisor is responsible for the Non-Federal, industry, Fixed Price, Shared Resources, Non-Sponsored and miscellaneous billing. Each year, the Hutch generates over 10,000 external invoices to its scientific collaborators including industry partners, universities and other research organizations. Many of these invoices reflect complicated agreements involving patient visits, specialized services and collaborative research. The successful candidate is someone that embraces efficiency, customer service, thoroughness and collaboration. The position reports to the Corporate Controller and directly supervises a staff of two Accounting Specialists with plans to expand. Key partners include the Assistant Controller, Office of Sponsored Research (OSR), Clinical Research Services, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) as well as service providers and research programs across the Hutch.
Manage day to day activities ofteam
Oversee shared resources (internal and external),Fixed price, Non-Federalbilling and associatedrevenue recognition
Work with cash desk to ensure efficient and timely cash application process
Manage aging, collections and write-off according to policyand working with internal partners
Maintain data quality at customer, award/contract and appropriate balance sheet levels
Coordinate closely with partners on Non-Federal award activations and expirations
Support month-end close process in areas of revenue recognition, reserves,deferred revenue, etc.
Provide upper tier customer support
Design, implement and monitor appropriate internal controls and compliance standards
Support externalaudits including financial statement andUniform Guidance, as applicable
Work to implement department and Financestrategicinitiatives
Identify, manage and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the workflow of the department
Collaborate with key partners to ensure efficient communications and operations
Enhance the professional development of direct reports by establishing and monitoring goals and objectives for staff and advising on progress thereon
Bachelors degree in business or Accounting, or equivalent; MBA or CPAa plus
Ten years of experience in cash receipts, billing, receivables and/or general Accounting
Fiveyears direct staff management experience
Experience leading process improvement projects
Ability to successfully work with both external and internal customers
Ability to exercise independent judgement, solve problems, and develop enterprise-wide approaches to core processes
Strong oral and written communication
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
Experience with PeopleSoft Financials or similar ERP a plus
