The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Communications Director, Health Sciences. The Communications Director, Health Sciences leads marketing and communications efforts to encourage outstanding philanthropic support and audience engagement for the University of Pittsburgh and its partnership with UPMC through the health sciences.
This position reports to the Vice Chancellor for Communications and Donor Relations in the Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement (PAE) and fits within a team of 15 communications staff who support giving, engagement, and stewardship across the University and UPMC.
The Communications Director, Health Sciences manages two or more communications staff members in developing communications strategies, messaging, and materials to support fundraising and engagement goals for select clients within the University and UPMC, including Pitt's six health sciences schools and their alumni, 12 or more UPMC departments, and several UPMC hospitals.
Key projects include:
Creation of high-level gift proposals
Directing mail and email campaigns to encourage annual giving
Communications and marketing support for special events such as Winter Academy, the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Gala, and the UPMC Children's Ball
Creation of various reports and related materials across media
Master's preferred with 5 years' experience or a BA with 9 years of functional/relatable experience. Preferably in PR/Communications, Journalism, or related field. Related/Functional experience will also be considered. Five years' experience developing and managing communications in a higher-education, nonprofit, or complex corporate environment. Prefer experience managing nonprofit communications in a field related to health care or science.
