SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT, ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE (AR) , Office of the Vice President for Finance (VPF) , to provide support with reporting, compliance, analysis, and control of accounting and financial functions related to the Institute's accounts receivable, including state and federal filings and general ledger accounts. Will serve as an active resource to MIT community members and help to mentor junior members of the team.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in finance, accounting, or business administration; at least three years' financial accounting/audit experience; knowledge of accounting principles and relevant federal regulations for accounts receivable, including those specific to research and nonprofit organizations; strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, project management, and written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and projects and ensure the timely delivery of responsibilities and assignments; discretion, tact, and good judgment with highly sensitive and confidential information; ability to foster interpersonal relationships both within teams and the wider community; proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; flexibility and willingness to pitch in with the team to complete all tasks and to modify approaches as required by the situation; demonstrated interest in training and presentations; and comfort working with minimal supervision and strict deadlines and the ability to prioritize own work. PREFERRED : experience with accounts receivable and collections processes with significant AR intake and volume; experience with the review and interpretation of legal agreements and contracts to determine billing responsibilities; experience preparing performance-driven data and metrics; knowledge of financial operations of nonprofit and/or higher ed organizations, preferably at MIT; experience with SAP or similar enterprise accounting systems.
