CHIEF OF STAFF , Alumni Association (MITAA) , to enhance the internal organizational processes that allow MITAA to fulfill its mission, including ensuring strong collaboration across its core areas of business; implementing priority efforts, identified by and with the CEO, that emerge from the MITAA strategic plan; and overseeing the strategic use of the CEO's time. Responsibilities include working closely with the CEO to move the MITAA's strategic plan forward; providing strong leadership; understanding the critical impact of alumni and donor relationships in advancing a leading research university; building credible, productive relationships with MIT alumni and friends, colleagues across the Institute, the board of directors, and other senior leadership; motivating staff and colleagues to collaborate as a team, working internally and externally to ensure strong business decisions relevant to delivering services for alumni; and developing an understanding of MIT's distinctive culture and better world ethos and integrating this awareness into recommendations/decisions. Will report to the CEO.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; ten years' relevant administration, operations, or project management experience; five years' experience leading a team, setting goals, and managing performance and budgets; excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and collaboration skills; and proven record of accomplishment in a position requiring independent planning. Must be able to provide leadership, management, and professional development to a large, diverse staff; strategize general direction of systems and lead staff to efficient implementation; interact with people at all levels, including senior Institute officers; and lead with influence and gain consensus on direction forward. PREFERRED : advanced degree; experience in a complex, research-oriented academic setting; and alumni relations, fund-raising, or development experience in a nonprofit setting. Job #18297-13
