The Director of Membership sets the strategic direction for the entire WAMU membership program and team and is responsible for meeting budgeted goals and strategic targets (and proactively partnering in setting them), which represent at least 40% of all WAMU revenue. The Director of Membership is a results-driven, analytical and creative leader who is charged with maintaining traditional sources of revenue as well as transforming the way WAMU acquires and retains members in a digital-first environment.
Membership is at the strategic core of the business both in terms of building loyalty with our audience and generating one of the primary sources of revenue that supports the station. Incumbent should be willing to outsource more tactical tasks and focus on efforts that can grow higher end of the giving spectrum – feeding the major giving program. The Director of Membership needs to be able to effectively judge the productivity of the fundraising program. By setting clear KPIs to establish a long-term financial performance of the WAMU membership program, the Director must maximize the lifetime value of station donors.
