TheHematologic Malignancies Program in the Clinical Research Division (CRD) is recruiting aResearch Technician I/II to work in the pre-clinical research laboratory of Dr. Stanley Lee.
The laboratory of Dr. Stanley Lee in the Clinical Research Division (CRD) studies how derangement in transcriptional regulation drives blood cancers such as myelodysplasia and acute myeloid leukemia. The laboratory combines hematopoietic stem cell biology assays, cell culture, clinically-relevant in vivo leukemia models, cutting-edge functional genomics and next generation sequencing technologies to understand how mutations in RNA splicing factors and chromatin regulators drive leukemia development and how to therapeutically target these leukemic cells (Lee SC et al., Nature Medicine 2016; Lee SC et al., Cancer Cell, 2018).
A successful Research Technician II candidate will be responsible for contributing to all aspects of laboratory research including performing experiments, analyzing data, keeping detailed laboratory records, maintaining laboratory equipment, reagents and stocks, and supporting other on-going laboratory projects and events. Routine experimental techniques include analysis of murine models, maintenance of mouse colony, flow cytometry, molecular biology assays (DNA and RNA extraction, PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR), protein analysis including western blot and immunoprecipitation, and cell culture. The successful candidate will under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator or senior laboratory personnel. The candidate will have opportunities to interact with researchers from other Programs within the CRD.
Mammalian cell culture experience
Molecular biology technical experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be proactive, detail-oriented and adept at working in a team environment
Research Tech I level: A bachelor's degree in a biological field, prior laboratory research experience
Research Tech II level: A bachelors degree in a biological field, 2 or more years of relevant professional post-bachelors laboratory research experience
Previous experience of working with murine models is desired but not essential (appropriate training will be provided)
Flow cytometry experience
Experience with protein analysis including western blot and immunoprecipitation
