DIRECTOR OF GRADUATE ALUMNI AND GIVING INITIATIVES , Alumni Association , to be responsible for setting the strategic direction of and managing the MIT's graduate alumni and other giving initiatives associated with affinity programs. Will lead efforts--in collaboration with staff of the Alumni Association and Resource Development and other MIT school development officers--to promote annual leadership and capital giving opportunities; leverage alumni relations and the MIT Campaign for a Better World events to encourage donors to participate annually and to upgrade their giving; explore opportunities to develop a cadre of graduate school alumni fund-raising volunteers to enhance alumni engagement and support; lead fund-raising for micro challenges, most notably associated with MIT's annual 24-hour challenge; work closely with the associate director, Annual Fund Marketing Programs who manages broad-based graduate school appeals; and supervise two staff members.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; seven years of direct fund-raising experience, including soliciting and closing gifts in a nonprofit environment; at least two years of experience supervising staff, setting goals, and managing performance; strong communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills; excellent time, project, and people management skills; self-motivation; ability to work both independently and cooperatively; proven success working as a member of a team; ability to develop and implement new ideas; tact and diplomacy; and proficiency with PC computers and standard applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, FileMaker, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of BSR Advance and iModules desirable, as is knowledge of planned giving. Some travel and evening and weekend work will be required. Job #18186-9
