The Public Communications Specialist is a creative, motivated person who writes and edits content for web, email, print, social media, video and marketing collateral. The specialist identifies writing projects and delivers snappy copy and assists in the production of video, photo, social media and other content under deadline, often collaborating with other department members. The specialist plays well with others and offers sound communication advice to all of the department's constituents.
This position creates, or assists in the creation of, written and graphic content for the USC Dornsife website, magazine, collateral, publications, videos, social media, etc. The specialist interprets and translates specialized and/or academic material from a wide variety of sources and disciplines and produces content for a variety of audiences. The position provides creative story ideas that engage readers, especially for the Collegeâs website and award-winning publication, USC Dornsife Magazine.
- Bachelorâs degree in journalism, communications, public relations or a related field required. Combined experience/education may substitute for minimum education.
-5 or more years in a journalism, marketing, communications or public relations role with experience developing, writing, editing, proofreading, and preparing materials for publication, preferably in a nonprofit or higher education setting.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; experience with web content management systems a plus.
