The Pacific Council on International Policy seeks a skilled bilingual (English/Spanish) fundraiser to lead our $1.5MM major gift and campaign fundraising effort for our Mexico Initiative. The Senior Major Gifts Officer (MGO) will report to the Chief Officer for Initiatives with responsibility for identifying and cultivating relationships with prospective major gift donors and foundations here in the United States and abroad in Mexico. From the outset, the Senior MGO will serve as principal staff to lead a multi-year $1.5-million-dollar fundraising campaign for the Pacific Councilâs Mexico Initiative. Responsibilities include prospect research, solicitation strategy, cultivation, donor outreach, gift proposal development, reporting and stewardship as well as making direct gift solicitations. The Senior MGO will also support other fundraising initiatives as needed. Our ideal candidate will have at least five years of non-profit fundraising experience, preferably with a significant experience in major gifts, multi-year fundraising campaigns, and foundation relations. They will also have a thorough background in fundraising best practices and experience in Salesforce database management for donor and solicitation records. The Pacific Council on International Policy has an evolving development structure â the Senior MGO is a new position supporting the Chief Officer of Initiatives and with up to two direct-reporting team members. RESPONSIBILITIESMexico Initiative Campaign- Plan and lead 7-figure fundraising campaign for the Pacific Councilâs Mexico Initiative
- Expand and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders in the philanthropic community, donors, and peers
- Research, qualify and cultivate new institutional and individual giving prospects
- Support and lead efforts of subordinate staff and coordinate Board of Directors to execute long-term fundraising
- Write, edit and submit funding applications
- Develop and submit high standard concept papers and project proposals as directed by both the Chief Officer as well as the Vice President, New Business Development
General Contracts and Grant Management- Ensure grant submissions meet foundation guidelines and deadlines
- Draft and negotiate external donor contacts and agreements as needed
- Ensure compliance with internal and external reporting requirements, including budgets and financial reports
- Refine and maintain grants and contracts tracking system for foundations within Salesforce
Other Donor Prospecting and Solicitation- Manage a portfolio of donors including serving as primary solicitor as appropriate
- Establish cultivation strategy and manage stakeholder substantive involvement for donors in the major gifts cycle
- Cultivate and maintain strong relations to support organization-wide efforts in philanthropic community
- Research, identify and cultivate new foundation and major gift prospects
Information Management and Donor Stewardship- Maintain existing donor/partner relationships
- Conduct donor briefings and updates
- Establish, track and assess major gifts and foundation fundraising metrics
Special Projects & Initiatives- Manage/augment fundraising projects on an as-need basis
- Plan specialized development projects, including any Galas
Requirements (What to BRING)- Equivalent of Native fluency in Spanish (written and spoken)
- Five to seven years of experience in the nonprofit or philanthropic sector
- Proven ability to write detailed gift proposals and reports in a concise way
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (high EQ) to manage a wide variety of relationships
- Ability to initiate and build relationships with philanthropic leaders, next generation donors, and through other fundraising streams
- Demonstrated high energy and the ability to handle multiple and often competing deadlines
- Ability to coach and develop team members in fundraising techniques

PREFERRED (NICE-TO-HAVES)- Demonstrated track record in securing and managing 6- and 7-figure foundation and private sector grants OR managing a multi-year blended campaign
- Higher level education qualification in a relevant field
