Health Sciences Advancement is currently seeking candidates for the position of Senior Director of Corporate Relations/Partnerships. The Senior Director will create and implement a comprehensive corporate philanthropy program. Particular emphasis will be placed on building and managing a portfolio of corporate prospects, writing highly competitive proposals, tracking and reporting of gifts, identifying new corporate funders to align with the medical enterprise and developing strong relationships with corporate contacts.A successful candidate will require a strong entrepreneurial spirit, an ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff and outside constituencies, an ability to be flexible and seize opportunities as they develop, and proven fundraising ability. This position will work closely with the larger development team and report to the Assistant Vice President, Health Sciences Advancement for the Keck School of Medicine of USC.
The Senior Director of Corporate Relations/Partnerships will become thoroughly familiar with educational activities, clinical care and research interests in order to develop partnerships with various corporate industries that lead to philanthropic support and will develop long term strategies aimed at large companies to include funding through employee giving programs, sponsorships and corporate social responsibility funds. The Director will manage a portfolio of the campus' most complex and important corporate partners and will work with leadership, volunteers and donors to identify new prospective corporate donors. Additionally, this position will work with on campus-wide or multi-disciplinary projects where appropriate, especially those with special appeal to corporate support.Â
Qualifications for PositionÂ
5-7 years of experience in corporate fundraising in a higher education and/or hospital setting and/or similar experience in a nonprofit, public relations/marketing industry or related environment working with corporate funders.
Strong understanding of funding frameworks for corporations with a demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement appropriate, individualized strategies for the cultivation and solicitation of prospects.Â
Experience in corporate social responsibility or corporate marketing campaigns using a broad array of communications tactics (e.g., advertising, national/local media relations, digital marketing and employee engagement programs globally)
Demonstrated experience in soliciting high-level gifts and/or other solicitations of a similar nature, level and complexity.Â
Management and administrative skills to organize, direct, motivate and evaluate professional staff and volunteers.Â
Demonstrated experience with budget preparation and resource management.Â
Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement marketing, communications, and operations support services including the ability to envision and articulate future direction.Â
Outstanding organizational skills and ability to exercise initiative, work proactively, and accept responsibility.Â
Ability to navigate and thrive in a complex and dynamic environment, managing conflicting priorities and coordinating multiple tasks.Â
Advanced written communication skills to communicate campus priorities and concerns by letter and proposal to senior corporate and foundation executives. Exceptional written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen, to build and maintain effective partnerships at all organizational levels and with outside constituencies.Â
Proven strong team-building skills, creating liaisons with campus development colleagues, academic and administrative leadership, and faculty to develop effective cultivation and solicitation strategies.Â
Familiarity with rapidly evolving issues related to corporate and foundation relations and higher education funding, finance and compliance.Â
Manage and pursue corporate-academic/hospital partnerships aligned with Keck Medicine of USC programs and initiatives and serve as a point of contact for corporate relations within the School.
Serve as the primary relationship manager on behalf Keck Medicine for a portfolio of corporations. Maintain strong relationships with key liaisons in each company.
Work with the Assistant Vice President of Health Sciences Development and Senior Director of Development with the Office of Foundation Relations to establish annual fundraising goals for corporation and foundation. Actively participate in the development, implementation, monitoring and assessment of strategies to achieve goals.
Develop a strong knowledge base of the faculty, research community, their research interests and expertise so that they can be matched with companies with overlapping interests.
Develop, coordinate, and implement fundraising strategies to secure gifts. Develop, prepare and present formal fundraising proposals to corporate prospects. Ability to efficiently and effectively bring proposals to successful closure.
Ensure an effective stewardship plan for corporate donors that is functional, systematically implemented and uses university best practices.
Work with major gift Advancement team, exploring corporate interests on the part of executives and referring prospects for individual giving.
Contribute to Advancement events and activities as required.
