Provide the consultation, referral services, management and vision necessary to assist State Associations in strengthening their organizational infrastructure and to identify and procure the services necessary to more effectively achieve their mission, vision and goals. Proactively work with volunteer state leaders to ensure that state associations are well served by the organization. Manage the creation of online and live governance and leadership development resources. This includes the development of toolkits, templates, and related content on the AANA website. This role will collaborate with state leaders and senior-level staff to ensure that state associations are well served by the organization. This may include identifying and implementing new opportunities, providing coaching, and managing relationships between AANA, staff and members. All staff are expected to foster a workplace culture that promotes divergent thinking, openness, respect, trust and the desire to be epic.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the comprehensive evaluation of all state association relations strategies, programs and processes. Actively monitor the wellbeing of state associations, identify needs and recommend intervention when appropriate.
Provide consultation on association management and the procurement of association management services such as legal and lobbying services, web development, membership data administration, etc., to state association leaders, as requested by state associations.
Provide association management services and support to state associations in the AMS Pilot Program and other states as needed/directed.
Work with staff and consultants as appropriate to create content for governance and leadership development using different modalities such as: on-demand webinars, live webinars and in person-live training.
Manage the orientation and development support for state association board members and other state association leaders. This may include role descriptions and orientation and succession planning
Coordinate the logistics related to planning and marketing the governance and leadership development programs. Source speakers, negotiate contracts and develop learner objectives. Provide on-site meetings logistics management and interfaces with appropriate staff at facilities to make arrangements.
Set tracking program goals, outcomes and evaluation metrics for leadership development programs
Monitor trends in association management and leadership and apply as appropriate.
Proactively work with state association leaders in developing strategies to assist State Associations in need of operational, management, financial and leadership assistance. Develop, implement, manage, identify and coordinate programs that address these needs.
Ensure all project-based activities are completed on time and within budget
Assist, as assigned, in the execution of the strategies and tactics related to the implementation of the AANA Strategic Plan.
Assist, as assigned, with the implementation of yearly SODC Objectives.
Manage special projects and other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
At least five years of association management experience. Health care association management experience is a plus and a focus on chapter relations is preferred.
Experience developing and directing programs in a chapter, component or state association environment is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to effectively engage volunteer leaders using multiple communication methods (written, oral, social media, etc.) and tailor programs to fit different needs.
Advanced IT skills and proficiency with MS Office and volunteer or association management software and content management systems.
Strong written, oral and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to function as an effective member of a team, delegate effectively and make sound decisions in a timely manner.
Strong project management, organizational and customer skills.
A Bachelor’s degree in related field of study relevant to this position. Master’s degree or other leadership/training designations preferred.
CAE credential is a plus.
