Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing and reporting of all payroll processes and all subsequent responsibilities.
Process bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll in collaboration with Human Resources. Ensure employee payroll processing is in compliance with federal and state laws.
Prepare check requests for monthly benefit payments. Reconcile benefit deductions to the monthly invoice.
Prepare monthly and year-end payroll related general ledger entries and account reconciliations.
Reconcile PTO balances to Paychex after each pay date.
Prepare payroll related documents for financial, retirement, and worker’s compensation audits and tax returns.
Prepare annual personnel budget and compensation analysis.
Prepare merit and incentive compensation worksheets.
Prepare internal payroll and timecard related reports, such as lobbying disclosure.
Reconcile or file federal and state payroll related reports, including Form 940 and 941, Form 5500s, and multi-site reporting.
Maintain payroll and timekeeping software. Follow established policies and procedures to maintain payroll operations and feature changes as necessary. Act as primary communicator with payroll and timekeeping software vendor. Act as the point-of-contact for employees regarding the timekeeping software.
Perform other related duties as directed.
Proven payroll experience (5+ years preferred). Knowledge of payroll principles, practices and procedures.
Certified Payroll Professional credentials preferred.
A general understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Advanced proficiency on Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Experience with Paychex and Great Plains preferred.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent knowledge and experience.

Ability to secure confidential payroll operation information and maintain employee confidence
