The Department of Public Affairs and Planning at UTA invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions to begin Fall 2020. It offers a nationally recognized NASPAA accredited Master of Public Administration degree (online, campus, city-based cohort), a doctorate in Public Administration and Public Policy, and graduate certificates in Public Budgeting and Financial Management, and Urban Nonprofit Management.
Candidates must be able to teach graduate-level courses (online and on campus) within public administration and policy in addition to developing curriculum and research programs in their area of research specialization. The ideal candidate will have a research focus on one or more of the following areas: resilience/risk management, sustainable community development, emergency management, and environmental policy analysis. Preferred candidates must be able to teach graduate-level courses (online and on campus) within public administration and policy applicable to our degree programs, in addition to developing curriculum and research programs in their area of research specialization. Candidates should also have a strong commitment to transdisciplinary approaches to challenging urban issues and advance our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Candidates will be expected to pursue sponsored research, produce peer-reviewed publications, participate in academic conferences and the national and international academic community, mentor students, and serve on dissertation, thesis, or project report committees. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their scholarship, teaching, and/or service. Additionally, candidates will be expected to serve on departmental, college, and university committees.

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. degree in Public Administration, Public Affairs, Public Policy, or a PhD. degree and/or research record in closely related social science fields (e.g., economics, political science, or sociology).
Preferred qualifications include a strong record or clear potential for innovative, quality research, teaching, and service. These positions are primarily targeting newly graduated doctoral students but assistant professors with one or two years in rank may also apply. Applications from students in candidacy are also welcome, however, the doctorate must be conferred before employment.
