The Development Director for Fox Valley Hands of Hope (FVHH) is responsible for the development, management and successful execution of a comprehensive fundraising plan. The Development Director will work closely with the Executive Director, Board and staff with a special emphasis on advancing the business plan and expanding the capacity of the overall development infrastructure. FVHH, a nonprofit organization, offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. The salary range for this position is $55K - $70K depending upon experience.
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL ATTRIBUTES
Undergraduate degree in Public Relations, Communications or related field.
A proven track record of a frontline leading successful annual and major gift initiatives; individual giving and demonstrated experience building community relationships.
At a minimum, 5 year’s frontline (direct) experience of successful fundraising.
Have progressively responsible and effective resource development experience with demonstrated results.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills and ability to motivate board members, volunteers, and staff to raise funds.
Experience with social media and a basic understanding of effectiveness measures.
Experience in writing grants and letters of intent.
Excellent organizational skills and project management skills.
Work with Executive Director and FVHH Resource and Development Committee to create and manage the annual development plan and budget.
Effectively communicate and secure commitments for sponsorship opportunities.
Coordinate with Executive Director and the Marketing & Communications Associate on year-round campaign leadership and donor engagement plan.
Develop and implement strategies to encourage other individual giving options for Giving Tuesday, donor circle, year-end appeal, tribute gifts and special events.
Develop and implement strategies to increase donor and volunteer engagement with each of FVHH’s special events.
Regularly report to the Executive Director on status of all donor prospects and ongoing activities.
Use and maintain oversight of donor database to ensure maintenance of accurate records regarding individual and institutional donors, sponsors and prospects.
Ensure that all individual donations are promptly acknowledged and that donors feel continuously recognized and appreciated.
Ensure that gifts and acknowledgements are accurately tracked in database for all individual gifts and that paper/electronic records of all donor correspondence are maintained in an organized manner.
Work with our Finance leader to track multi-year pledges and appropriate follow-up communications to insure payment.
Attend philanthropic community events to help build awareness of FVHH and develop donor relationships.
