Reporting to the Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations, this position will provide strategic support to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) efforts to secure funding from private foundations and other organizations to secure unrestricted and restricted grants, sponsorships, and gifts in the five-seven figure range; communicate AAP goals, mission, and programs to potential partners in a compelling and strategic manner; and work collaboratively with AAP staff to ensure grant and contract deliverables are achieved.
Must have excellent writing, grant prospecting, presentation, organizational, negotiating, and interpersonal skills, Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, non-profit management or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience required, and 3 years’ experience writing grants for a nonprofit organization and shepherd grant proposals through to completion required. Experience identifying, cultivating and securing new funding, particularly from large grantmakers and managing complex and competing projects and deadlines. Occasional evening and weekend work, and some travel required. Must be able to independently conduct donor/prospect visits, including air travel.
