The purpose of this role is to provide strategic & tactical alignment of Technical and Organizational Development services to various program participants. This is accomplished by developing, managing, and maintaining strategic relationships within the assigned participant organizations. The Associate Director will engage at a deep level, working in small teams to build the capabilities, systems, and processes needed to deliver bottom-line results and then encourage sustainability. The Associate Director will function as a coach to community based nonprofit leaders. As such, the Associate Director plans, develops, implements and administers performance development, strategic goals and succession management programs for Community Programs Accelerator Awardees. In addition, the Associate Director will manage corporate partner resources and campus resources to ensure high quality implementation of client driven solutions.
This position, under the leadership of the Director, acts as an organizational development liaison and advisor to Community Programs Accelerator Awardees. This includes establishing strong partnerships and providing informal leadership when necessary. The Associate Director will have strong influence and accountability in the development and execution of Technical and Organizational Development strategy. This includes, but is not limited to: system training & development, programs customization & implementation strategies, T&D communications out to the organization, coaching to organizational leaders and decision making with organization leadership team.
Strategic Development of Capacity Building Activities:
Contributing to the identification of needs for capacity-building actions through needs assesments and analysis;
Contributing to the design of the capacity-building strategy and coordinating a group of experts working on strategic aspects of capacity building;
Contributing to the design of tools and actions (e.g. seminars, etc.) including writing calls for providers, assessing bids, preparatory meetings with selected service providers, etc.;
Keeping up to date with capacity-building and training policies and tools developed outside of urban practitioners and policy- makers.
Delivery of Capacity Building Activities:
Builds and sustains productive working relationships with other offices and areas throughout the University and surrounding community, ensuring effective partnerships, optimal utilization of shared resources, and awareness of common interests.
Coordinating service providers commissioned by the Accelerator to support design and delivery of capacity-building actions (experts, trainers, training institutions, etc.);
Provide, strategic guidance, technical support and resources management to client community and faculty awardees.
Perform organizational assessments using a variety of proven methods to uncover and solve complex organizational problems and contribute to new growth opportunities.
Develops organizational engagements and guiding clients to deliver organizational transformations & change.
Performs relevant administrative planning and implementation for task/project completion and provides support for organizational analysis, design and implementation of projects.
Assists with the review of proposals, sub-agreements and reports for the Accelerator program.
Maintains a close and highly responsive relationship with the awardeesâ™ day-to-day activities. Confirms and prioritizes project plans and deliverables as agreed upon between the Accelerator and Awardeeâ™s.
Provides data analysis, record keeping, research and other duties as may be required.
Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Knowledge of nonprofit organizations on the South Side preferred.
Education, Experience, or Certifications:
Bachelor's degree required
Masterâ™s degree preferred
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
Three yearsâ™ experience working within or leading a nonprofit preferred
Three yearsâ™ experience consulting with nonprofits preferred
