The mission of Chicago Learning Exchange (“CLX”) is to inspire and support innovation that equips digital-age learners and leaders to close Chicago’s opportunity gap. Though CLX was formed in 2018 as an independent nonprofit organization, it has a track record of almost a decade through two complementary initiatives established by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation: the Hive Chicago Learning Network, stewarded by the Mozilla Foundation and the Hive Chicago Fund for Connected Learning, formerly housed at The Chicago Community Trust. CLX endeavors to cultivate and connect Chicago’s wide-ranging learning eco-system so that Chicago becomes a connected community where all learning counts -- with a primary focus on learning in underserved communities. In partnership with educators, young people, parents, museums, libraries, nonprofits, advocacy groups, and after-school programs, CLX seeks to influence policy with the potential to move society.
