Children’s Aid, a leading force in the New York City and national not-for-profit community serving children and families, seeks an experienced not-for-profit financial executive for the position of Chief Financial Officer.
Established in 1853, Children’s Aid (CA) helps children in poverty to succeed and thrive by providing comprehensive supports in targeted high-needs New York City neighborhoods. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will lead and direct all aspects of financial management, including budget, revenue, payroll, purchasing, accounting, grants and contract management, auditing, treasury, liability management and disbursement functions for a large multiservice organization. The CFO will be innovative, forward-thinking, customer-oriented, and responsive to internal and external change so as to best support CA programs and operations, and the overall CA vision, mission, and strategic direction. The CFO is a highly visible role, working closely with the CEO, the COO, the CPO, the CA senior management team, and several committees of the CA Board of Trustees. To meet the current needs of the organization, the CFO must have extensive experience with accounting, government grants and contracts management, process improvement and technology
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Seasoned, mature leader business partner with a customer service mentality, strategic orientation and hands-on approach, and at least 15 years finance management experience, including large, diverse, complex not-for-profit organizations.
Excellent finance, analytic and accounting skills, desire to work in a dynamic environment, and significant experience in change management, business process redesign, and systems implementation.
Ability to translate business needs into budgets and vice-versa, while putting information into the hands of the leaders to make good, timely business decisions.
A bachelor’s degree is required along with an MBA or other professional, graduate degree, such as MPA; if the latter, undergraduate degree in finance or accounting preferred.
CPA highly desirable, although not required.
