Cure SMA is seeking a Manager, Development who will proactively prospect, network, and build relationships to build a pipeline of major gifts donors and prospects. S/he will lead, implement, and grow programs that cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors and foundations in the Western United States.
Reporting to the Director, Development, the Manager, Development can be based remotely in the western US with preference given to candidates in California, Texas, or Colorado. S/he will work closely with Cure SMA’s Marketing & Communications and Events & Family Support departments to develop giving strategies, identify prospects, and build relationship with key constituents.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as relationship manager for a portfolio of individual donors, foundations and prospects, identifying and executing the necessary cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities necessary to maintain and grow support from that portfolio.
Develop relationships with prospective and existing donors through various cultivation calls, letters, meetings, emails, and handwritten notes.
Write and edit proposals, reports, correspondence, campaign materials, and other documents for internal and external audiences.
Leverage existing relationships, special events, and other systems, such as a database, to develop a donor prospect pipeline.
Responsible for a personal portfolio of major donors with revenue and activity goals
Ability to work and communicate with a wide range of internal and external constituents
Track all gifts and pledges by source and purpose and provides reports as needed
Ensure that gift acknowledgements are sent out in a timely manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum of 3 years experience in fund development with focus on individual giving and major donors is required.
Demonstrated success in identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, closing, and stewarding donors/prospects with major gift potential.
Proven experience working with donors; including outstanding ability to cultivate relationships, make asks, and thank appropriately.
Ability to set goals and take action to achieve goals.
Able to prioritize, schedule, and monitor multiple projects.
Able to establish strong collaborative relationships and work with others in a cooperative and effective manner.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and Luminate Online with the ability to extract and analyze data, run reports and queries.
The Development Manager will maintain accurate records of donor information and transactions managing all information with the highest professional and ethical standards. The position requires strong analytical, communication, and negotiating skills, good judgment in making decisions independently, and an ability to establish and maintain positive professional working relationships with a wide range of internal and external partners.
Work is generally sedentary in nature, but requires walking, sitting, traveling, and occasionally standing, bending, reaching, lifting boxes, and unloading supplies. Requires ability to lift 25 pounds or less.
