Under the supervision of the Director of Philanthropy and External Affairs, the Development Associate is responsible for supporting the unrestricted fundraising, and marketing and communications efforts of Aging Care Connections.
As the key lead for special events, the Development Associate understands the process and steps necessary to provide leadership and project management for Aging Care Connections' special events to maximize ROI, knows how to work with high-level volunteers and volunteer planning committees to maximize value-add, and is a hands-on implementer and self-driven worker.
The Development Associate is also charged with developing and implementing marketing and communications initiatives. The person sets deadlines, monitors work and evaluates results to ensure that marketing and communications objectives are met, completed on a timely manner and are in line with the needs, mission and vision of Aging Care Connections.
The Development Associate will also be cross-trained in other aspects of the Advancement Department and assist other team members as needed.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Director, develop event management plans for two special events
Plan, design and produce special events with the assistance of Advancement staff, while managing all project delivery elements within time limits
Work with event committee volunteers and advancement staff to secure sponsorships, in-kind donations, and attendance
Maintain event donor/sponsor information in Donor Perfect
Marketing and Communications
Under the direction of the Director, develop and maintain a schedule for the preparation of marketing and communications materials
Work with graphic designer to develop marketing and communications materials (ex. newsletters, annual report, brochures, etc.)
Develop other marketing and communications materials, such as flyers, press releases, invitations, etc.
Develop email newsletters using Mailchimp
Work with website administrator to maintain website updated
Represent Aging Care Connections at community fairs
Perform other duties related to the qualifications and requirements of the job
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience: Experience working in a development (fundraising) department with special events and marketing and communications experience. Experience working with a community-based nonprofit is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A passion for working with older adults and social services
Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and build a rapport with a variety of stakeholders, including staff, board, volunteers, and donors
Experience working with volunteers is desirable
Proven track record of meeting fundraising goals
Highly organized, energetic and creative thinker
Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the development of marketing and communications materials, and public relations activities.
Ability to work effectively with a team; a team player attitude
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher
Ability to work outside standard work hours to attend meetings or events when necessary
Willingness to travel on a local level
