WTTW (Chicago PBS) and WFMT (Classical radio) are seeking a full-time Manager of Community Engagement. This individual is responsible for helping to manage WTTW-WFMT's Community Engagement efforts to build new partnerships and strengthen existing relationships with community leaders, nonprofit organizations, educators, and the business community in order to cultivate increased awareness for WTTW-WFMT's initiatives.
Interface with the community and represent WTTW and its community engagement efforts and strategies.
Contribute to all station community engagement events and activities and make recommendations regarding same to senior management.
Responsible for the planning and execution of Community Engagement special events.
Identify and build relationships with community partners for engagement opportunities.
Work with Development and Sales staff to obtain government, corporate, and foundation grants. Assure funder recognition is correct, properly branded, and scheduled.
Regularly write and report on station community efforts for inclusion in WTTW’s public FCC file.
Interact with public broadcasting organizations including PBS, CPB, and other public stations, on community engagement initiatives.
Deliver information to VP, Community Engagement on station community activities to share with WWCI Board of Trustees, WWCI Community Engagement Committee, WTTW Community Advisory Board, senior management, and department heads.
Partner with WTTW community affairs production personnel, online producers and designers, and creative services staff in creation of community content spots, PSAs, and interstitial material.
Work with and share community affairs information and expertise with WTTW Chicago Tonight editorial staff.
Manage local and/or National station grants for special projects – Remake Learning and Daniel Tiger Grants.
Manage and Attend WTTW’s Monthly Community Cinema Screening and Discussion series at the Chicago Cultural Center.
Manage all administrative requirements including processing of invoices, expense tracking, creation of event materials and purchases, catering and event RSVP management.
Work with senior leadership to determine appropriate staffing for community events and provide training to WTTW employees for screening events, character visits and other activities required at children’s and community events.
Serve as Project Manager for projects specifically assigned by VP, Community Engagement.
Nighttime and weekend work required on a monthly basis.
Vehicle and ability to lift 50 lbs. and transport event materials required.
Occasional travel required.
Other duties as assigned.
Strong leadership experience
Strong interpersonal communication skills with excellent writing, social media, and public speaking proficiencies
Critical thinker with strong project analysis skills capable of developing, managing, furthering, and evaluating station community engagement strategies
Should be adept at finding quantitative and qualitative methods to measure station community projects
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software suite
Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
Minimum five years experience in project management, marketing, community engagement
Strong relationship management experience
Strong leadership experience
Previous budget management a plus
Previous television and/or online production skills extremely helpful
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree
