Recruitment and Admissions: Oversees undergraduate and M.A. student recruitment for the school, with the goal of continuing to grow the number of students that the Hamilton Lugar School attracts. Develops, oversees and implements new recruitment strategies for attracting high-quality undergraduate and graduate students to HLS. Responsibilities include undergraduate degrees and professional Master's degrees. Determines proper allocation of resources (human, financial, programmatic) for recruitment efforts. Collects and disseminates data to target potential students and their families effectively. Responsible for assessing efficacy of all recruitment activities. Works closely with department chairs, faculty, and academic and career advisors in HLS to ensure school is offering the curriculum and professional development opportunities students seek. Works closely with Executive Associate Dean to schedule and publicize courses with the goals of ensuring that students receive an elite education, that students can take the courses they need, and that HLS maximizes enrollment.
To achieve the goal of increasing undergraduate and MA student enrollment, this position will work closely with Dean's office and senior school leadership. Works with the Director of Communication and Marketing and with Director of Administration to develop full range of marketing materials, strategic communications, and events. Creates itinerary for visitors to campus, ensuring visitors meet with right mix of students, faculty, and staff. Selects, trains and manages a team of roughly 10-20 Student Ambassadors to represent the School, meet with potential students, answer questions, and serve as public face of HLS. Works closely with Alumni Relations to develop an effective Alumni Ambassador Program and leverage alumni network. Develops strong relationships with campus partners and represents HLS at on-campus and off-campus recruitment programs run by Office of Admissions, Office of Enrollment Management, and Office of Scholarships. Makes decisions regarding Direct Admissions and DA Scholarships. Meets with students and parents on a daily basis.
Student Services: This position has responsibility for creating a range of programming that will enrich the student experience, help to create a strong identity for students in HLS, provide students with leadership opportunities, and attract more students to the school. Position will oversee an orientation program as well as weekly programming for the 50 incoming Direct Admit students. Position will work closely with LLC leadership and campus partners to excite them about the possibility of putting their visitors in front of HLS DAs and students. This programming will introduce the DAs to leaders from HLS, campus, the Bloomington community, and national/global businesses, government organizations and nonprofits. The goal will be to make students aware of opportunities at IU and beyond, teach them to ask questions of and engage with more established professionals, and connect them with the HLS career team to provide paths for obtaining internships.
This position will work with Executive Associate Dean to ensure courses are being offered, scheduled, and promoted effectively. It will track and measure HLS program enrollments from year to year to ensure student's curriculum needs are being met and that enrollments are being maximized. The position will seek the input of advisors in developing, scheduling, and promoting courses that meet student needs and help attract top students to HLS.
Master’s degree and five years of experience in higher education administration or in an area related to student enrollment services such as admissions, recruitment, marketing, financial aid, program development and/or enrollment management.
Combinations of education and related experience may be considered.
