At Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch), home to three Nobel laureates, interdisciplinary teams of world-renowned scientists seek new and innovative ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases. Fred Hutchs pioneering work in bone marrow transplantation led to the development of immunotherapy, which harnesses the power of the immune system to treat cancer. An independent, nonprofit research institute based in Seattle, Fred Hutch houses the nations first and largest cancer prevention research program, as well as the clinical coordinating center of the Womens Health Initiative and the international headquarters of the HIV Vaccine Trials Network.Fred Hutch is an active partner in the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), which brings together the leading research teams and cancer specialists of Fred Hutch, Seattle Childrens and UW Medicine. We are seeking a part-time (50% FTE) Statistical Research Associate II (SRA) for research projects within the Cancer Prevention Program, Division of Public Health Sciences that use both clinical trials and observational studies to examine a broad range of lifestyle modifications (diet, physical activity, weight management) and complementary/integrative therapies for cancer prevention and control, especially in under-resourced and vulnerable populations. Data management and data analyses will be conducted for several new and ongoing clinical trials and cohort studies. The SRA will be involved in collaborative, interdisciplinary research to manage data and conduct analyses in clinical trials and observational cohorts of cancer survivors, as well as individuals at high risk of developing cancer. Clinical trials test behavioral and electronic health interventions (e.g., physical activity trackers, apps, and websites) that generate high dimensional data. We are seeking a masters-level statistician or biostatistician to support our team. The SRA will have an opportunity to work with several collaborators and there will be opportunities to participate in peer-reviewed scientific publications
The SRA will work with multidisciplinary research teams and directly with investigators to implement data quality control procedures, assist in determining optimum statistical study designs, lead in the data management and perform data analyses, and support the development and implementation of statistical methods relevant for clinical trial and observational cohort studies. The SRA will collaborate with investigators and research teams across multiple sites. The SRA will derive diet, physical activity, quality of life, and biomarker data from complex datasets. Tasks will also include conducting quality control analyses. The SRA will prepare written summaries, data completion reports, and tables of results, and will document statistical analyses and assist with manuscript preparation.

At Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, teams of world-renowned scientists and humanitarians work together to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, HIV/AIDS and other diseases. Researchers are discovering new ways to detect cancers earlier, improve treatments, and learn how to prevent cancers from growing. Although Fred Hutchinson opened its doors in 1975, its history began about 20 years before that. In 1962 Fred Hutchinson envisioned a center devoted to studying cancer, a disease that took his brother’s life. Today Fred Hutchinson is contributing to the next waves of breakthrough treatments and prevention strategies. Fred Hutchinson collaborates with the Seattle Cancer Alliance, the National Cancer Institute, and the University of Washington.
