The Hadland Lab ( http://research.fhcrc.org/hadland/en.html ) is seeking a talented postdoctoral fellow interested in studying the mechanisms regulating hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) emergence. The focus of our lab is to unravel the dynamic intercellular interactions and signal pathways governing the generation of blood and immune cells during embryonic development, and in turn apply this knowledge toward engineering novel approaches for the study and treatment of blood and immune disorders.
This is a basic science position that focuses on utilizing emerging single cell technologies and computational approaches for the functional and molecular analysis of the dynamics of HSC development. The position will also provide opportunities to develop novel translational applications in the areas of gene and cellular therapies, disease modeling, and/or drug discovery, and for collaborations with colleagues in Genome Sciences, Bioengineering, and other departments. This position is ideally suited for a candidate who is an independent thinker but who also enjoys working collaboratively across disciplines.
PhD in a relevant field (molecular biology, cell biology, genome sciences, developmental biology, immunology, or related fields).
Track record of productive research, with high quality first-author publications.
Experience in molecular biology and cell culture techniques is required.
Experience in bioinformatics and use of computational algorithms to address complex biological questions is desired.
Additional experience in culture and differentiation of pluripotent stem cells, flow cytometry, viral transfection, gene editing, transcriptomics/proteomics, immunohistochemistry, and/or microscopy is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
