Coding, Reimbursement and Registry Staff Associate
The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons is seeking an energetic, friendly and motivated person to apply for the Coding and Reimbursement Staff Associate position. This individual reports to the Health Policy, Quality and Reimbursement Manager and works with the Health Policy and Quality Improvement Staff Associate to provide staff support to the Committee on Healthcare Policy, Coding and Reimbursement (CHPCR). Responsibilities include coordinating the activities of the committee, its initiatives and directives as well as assisting with the organization and execution of in-person and online Coding and Billing courses, providing on-site staff support.
The Coding and Reimbursement Staff Associate, is responsible for developing and maintaining the association’s library of coding and billing resources related to the practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery The Coding and Reimbursement Staff Associate is also the association’s primary coding associate and is responsible for responding to member coding and reimbursement inquiries by providing guidance on proper code selection, reimbursement rules, billing guidance, and appeal advice.
This position is responsible for monitoring and developing communications related to coding and/or reimbursement policy changes, changes to national payment policies and other initiatives that may impact our members. The Coding and Reimbursement Staff Associate may also serve as a staff liaison to outside agencies, as required and assists the manager and advisors with preparing meeting materials and minutes. This position must also stay abreast of initiatives stemming from third-party dental and medical payers including both Medicare and Medicaid and their initiative, including the Accountable Care Act, Medicare incentive programs, and other health reform activities.
The Coding and Reimbursement Staff Associate is accountable for writing bimonthly articles for our various online and print publications. In addition, this position is responsible for maintaining and revising the resources available on the appropriate and corresponding sections of the AAOMS web site, maintaining the electronic logging of member inquiries in order to identify coding and reimbursement trends.
Excellent writing skills and proficient use of Microsoft Office applications is essential. Strong communication and pleasant customer service skills are required as providing superior assistance to the AAOMS membership is critical to this position. Knowledge of CPT, CDT, and ICD-10-CM is preferred as this Staff Associate responds to all practice coding and reimbursement related inquiries in a timely and professional manner. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and will possess the ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks, be a team player, and have a working knowledge of health policy and related matters. Periodic travel is required for this position.
