The Director for Community and Governmental Affairs provides strategic support to the President in building strong relationships and partnerships with key external groups, organizations and individuals with special emphasis on agencies and organizations in Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage Roxbury Community College's government and community relations including coordinating and strengthening relationships with community leaders and organizations, government officials and state funding agencies.
Enhance communications with local and regional organizations in support of RCC's projects and initiatives by establishing contacts and providing regular updates to external groups.
Monitor and review relevant higher education news and legislation and provide briefing material to the President.
Partner with university and external agencies to build and maintain relationships to develop specific strategies and long-term plans to optimize support and resources for the college.
Become connected to external community boards and groups to increase the presence of RCC in the City and Commonwealth.
Engage with the campus community through committee work, events and meetings to stay apprised of institutional plans and projects.
Plan and execute college events in partnership with external agencies.
Assist campus leadership in navigating complex projects related to external agencies.
Provide insights to expanding community partnerships and cultivation of key relationships to advance institutional priorities.
Represent the college at events and committees on behalf of the President.
Reviews schedule of external events on campus to connect community groups with college staff as appropriate.
Represent the interest of the college and students on key community organizations.
Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred.
Five years of experience in nonprofit organization, civic, community or governmental agency.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organization ability.
Ability to network and cultivate relationships.
Ability to prioritize assignments.
Knowledge of local and community organizations.
Experience with special events and project management.
Compensation: Starting salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position includes a broad benefits package.
