The Palo Alto Veterans for Research (PAVIR) is seeking a Research Assistant to support the All of Us study through a variety of recruitment, enrollment, patient outreach, as well as data collection and data management activities under the direction of the Supervisor and Principal Investigator (PI).
This is a regular, full time (40 hours/week), non-exempt (hourly-paid) position. Benefits:

PAVIR is a nonprofit foundation affiliated with the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS). As a condition of employment, all PAVIR employees are required to have an approved appointment with VAPAHCS and complete a background check before they can commence work.
Screen and enroll participants; Work with study subjects to complete enrollment questionnaire;
Explain the study procedures to study subjects and answer any study-related questions;
Obtain informed consent;
Schedule study participants for follow up visits and collaborate with clinic staff as needed.
Enter and maintain data in study databases and logs.
Check data for completeness and follow-up as needed.
Assist participants with in All of Us portal enrollment.
Retrieve articles and literature for project support.
Maintain Essential Documents binder for the project and assist in preparation of regulatory submissions.
Perform other research related duties as needed.
Education: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Biology, Psychology, Health Sciences, Social Sciences or related field.
Required: Previous experience supporting research study(ies) by collecting data, recruiting study participants, and maintaining databases.
Desired: Research experience in a hospital setting with direct patient contact. Previous experience in follow-up data collection.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the research field gained through education or experience;
Ability to understand VA regulations and procedures regarding research;
Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database use;
Good organizational skills and attention to detail;
Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing;
Good interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with study subjects;
Familiarity and/or interest in clinical research;
Ability to read and understand the study protocol;
Ability to complete directed tasks independently.
Environmental Conditions / Physical Demands:
Physical: Primarily sitting while working at a computer. Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to carry items up to 50 lbs. May encounter subjects who are confused, agitated or abusive.
Environmental: Exposure to office, hospital and clinical environments. Occasional travel will be required to Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) for outreach events.
