National Able Network, a dynamic and growing nonprofit agency specializing in the delivery of innovative employment and training programs, recently acquired a new Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP) grant in Chicago, IL and has an exciting opportunity for a Job Developer.
The Job Developer is responsible for job development for program clients and for employer relationships with respect to job order and placement activities.
Researches, identifies and contacts potential employers regarding job Keeps abreast of current labor market conditions and future trends in the area. Alerts Site Director and Client Service staff to changes/opportunities
Through networking, cold-calling and other prospecting tactics, seeks to establish relationships with new employers by educating them on the services, programs, and benefits available. Links employer to all existing employment resources, including center personnel and access to technical resources
Maintains and develops relationships with a roster of employers in designated industries for whom he /she serves as the contact and consultant for job order and placement Actively engages in activities to expand this roster by attracting and serving new employers
Promotes development of employment for all job Organizes and participates in conferences and workshops on behalf of job seekers. Participates in local job fairs and on-site mass interviewing/hiring activities
Identifies, communicates with, and maintains ongoing relationships with local business group, trade associations, and major local employers by telephone, letter, and in person, whenever possible
Demonstrates leadership by planning and initiating meetings with the internal business service team
Serves in a consultative role with local employers to assist with the planning and development of their recruitment, retention and training efforts brokering appropriate workforce solutions to meet their needs
Collaborates with Client Service Representatives and other team members to insure clients receive optimal and appropriate service
Ensures on-going retention efforts occur between clients and employers for one year from date of placement to alleviate any problems and ensure placement success
Works in conjunction with personnel in other offices to coordinate job development and placement activities
Attends conferences, workshops and training sessions as necessary
Applies continuous improvement strategies to duties; actively participates in and supports positive change efforts designed to enhance services offered to employers and clients
Performs other related duties as required or assigned
Knowledge or Expertise:
Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational and presentation skills
Creative self-starter who will take initiative and work independently to achieve results, but can also collaborate and contribute positively to team efforts
High energy, flexibility and the ability to manage multiple projects and produce results
Must be able to generate own employer leads from approved sources
Strong service-orientation and interpersonal abilities to work successfully with employers, clients, other agencies, and co-workers
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required
Experience with IWDS and/or other employment database software systems highly desirable
Bachelor's degree preferably in social science, marketing or business
Minimum 3 years’ experience in sales, employment, job development/placement or related experience
Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings when necessary
Must be able to travel to local businesses, other agencies and schools, job fairs, seminars/workshops and other offices when necessary
