The YMCA of Metro Chicago has an excellent opportunity for a high-performing, experienced Chief Financial Officer to help lead one of the largest social service nonprofits in Chicagoland. Spanning across six counties, the Y operates in over 100 locations with its mission-driven work improving the lives of children and families. The organization has recently embarked on implementing its five-year strategic plan to elevate our brand and service to the community.
You will be the successful candidate for the Chief Financial Officer when you demonstrate that you:

Have an understanding of the long-range economic issues of the nonprofit sector and the organization and are comfortable delving into the tactical details of the day-to-day operation.
Have experience in budgeting, strategic forecasting and planning, and in overseeing financial, accounting, compliance, and risk management of a complex organization.
Recognize our need to grow and diversify revenue, and support colleagues across the YMCA in a constructive, supportive manner.
Have strong quantitative and analytical skills, and adeptly present financial information to any audience, whether it is the leadership team, the Board of Directors, or staff at any level.

Drive a clear and efficient business financial cycle, encompassing strategic planning, budgeting, and reporting.
Maintain an appropriate financial model for YMCA that aligns resources to financial strategy.
Manage the accounting systems, processes, and procedures to record, monitor, and report on the organization’s assets and liabilities in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and all regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with and support the Chairs of the Audit, Finance, and Investment Committees of the YMCA.
Ensure the process and timely preparation of all financial statements and reporting, including regular financial statements to management, regulatory agencies, and the Board.
Advise the Chief Executive Officer and executive leadership team on developments in financial management practices and reporting, including potential and actual changes in accounting principles as well as tax, regulatory and reporting requirements for government-funded organizations; advise leadership on ways to improve the efficiency of the organization’s financial practices.
Serve as the primary interface with the external auditor and auditing partner; oversee the annual audit of the organization’s financial statements by its external auditors on a timely basis.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field with a Master’s/MBA and CPA designation strongly preferred.
10+ plus years of progressive finance/accounting leadership experience in an equivalent, consumer-facing organization with multiple revenue streams and operations units.
Exceptional relationship building and influencing skills.
Deep understanding of financial systems and reporting.
Demonstrated leadership skills with a minimum of 7 or more years in a supervisory role leading highly effective teams.
