This position reports to the Director of Development (DOD) for the Chicago/Dallas regions.
The position of Coordinator, Events and Fundraising, offers an events and development professional the opportunity to leverage their skills in support of Step Up’s mission and programming.
This position involves working with local Chicago and Dallas teams and Boards, as well as related staff across Step Up’s national network. This role will play an active role in growing Step Up Chicago and Dallas’ donor base, revenues, and opportunities for engagement in alignment with our strategic plan.

Specific duties include:
Event Planning & Production Management, Chicago:
Produce and manage Step Up’s significant fundraising and cultivation events, including Shine & Dine, Power Breakfasts and panels, Connections Conferences, and additional events such as salons, cocktail engagements, board house parties.
Collaborate with Executive Director (ED) and VP, Development, and DOD to ensure each event aligns with the organization’s mission and represents Step Up’s brand appropriately.
With the DOD, coordinate all event-related fundraising, including in-kind support, sponsorships, table and/or ticket sales, donations, etc.
Monitor and set attendance and rsvp goals for each event in conjunction with expenses and ROI.
Prepare and manage all logistics and on-site event set-up: budgets, check requests, photography, signage, print materials, gift bags, registration lists, etc.
Serve as primary event planner for Shine & Dine Annual Signature Fundraiser. Key areas of responsibility include: budget, sponsorship solicitations and benefit fulfillment, tickets sales, communications, on-site fundraising, event layout, timeline, vendor management, décor and overall guest experience.
Event Planning & Production Management, Dallas:
Support the planning of Stepping Up in the City in conjunction with ED, DOD and local event planner. Lead online giving component, soapbox registration and communication plan.
Support the event planning of all development events, including Power Breakfasts, Panels, and Salons in collaboration with the ED and DOD.
Development in Chicago and Dallas:
Support Chicago and Dallas development team in growing Step Up’s revenue through the execution of meetings, events, corporate partnerships, and individual giving.
Collaborate and implement the fiscal year strategy with the DOD, including list management and segmentation, e-solicitations and stewardship, proposal prep, and giving campaigns.
Manage Corporate Employee Engagement Program in each city including working with the DOD to distribute monthly engagement opportunities and stewardship to retain existing partners.
Practice moves management, thinking critically of members and event attendees and their potential increased investment in Step Up.
Spearhead Impact Committee (young professionals) in both Chicago and Dallas, serving as primary point of contact, leading quarterly meetings (or web conferences) for both chapters, and providing support for fundraising events.
Track fundraising progress for the Chicago and Dallas Boards and Impact Committees; creating and compiling report cards on a quarterly or as needed basis.
Mange donor giving data in Salesforce: pull, compile, and manage lists, reports and donor data; stewarding database usage for best business practices.
Marketing and Administrative Support:
Identify and execute strategies to utilize events to achieve national marketing goals
Create and manage event messaging, including event eblasts, online calendar listings, onsite signage and décor, and social media
Innovate new ways to market Step Up events and expand our network of support
Manage the Step Up Chicago and Dallas event calendars
Manage data collection and entry in Salesforce
Manage incoming volunteer opportunities, until a national strategy is implemented
Coordinate Chicago’s co-working space, EvolveHer, and storage facility as needed
Perform general office administrative needs and support including research, data compilation and entry, filing, mailing, running errands, and the like as needed
Other duties as assigned by manager
The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
College degree in applicable field
2 years of event management, fundraising and/or annual fund experience required
Knowledge of Salesforce highly preferred
Highly detail oriented with critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry, communication, and logistics
Ability to prioritize work and to perform multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Is comfortable and excels under pressure
Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
Ability to effectively manage event budgets and negotiate with vendors
Excellent project management and organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to take responsibility and lead initiatives
