The Gillen Brewer School seeks a Junior Accountant to support the Business Office’s day-to-day general accounting functions. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with excellent organizational and analytical skills. This is a full-time position reporting to the Accounting Manager and CFO.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Review payment requests and purchase orders for appropriate coding, documentation, and approval
Enter invoices and bills into FundEZ and prepare them for payment
Enter corporate card expenses and obtain all receipts and backup documentation
Enter flexible spending expenses
Obtain W-9s from new vendors and maintain vendor files
Assist in the preparation of 1099s
Assist in the annual audit
Review purchase orders for completeness and approval and place orders with vendors
Order office, cleaning, and program supplies as requested and in anticipation of future needs
Follow up on status of deliveries, returns, etc.
Maintain inventory of supplies and office hardware
Coordinate with Receptionist/Administrative Assistant for catering needs
Register staff for professional development (conference registrations and lodging if applicable)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
One to three years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or independent school
Experience with FundEZ accounting software strongly preferred
Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
