The Council for Interior Design Qualification, Inc. is seeking a Senior Director of Marketing and Operations (SDMO) to directly manage communications, marketing outreach, and various aspects of day to day workflow and operations within the headquarters office. This is the “deputy” position within a small office. It reports directly to the CEO and is intended to expand and enhance CIDQ’s exam marketing efforts, advocacy communications, and overall stakeholder engagement while overseeing and improving operational effectiveness and efficiency.
Skills: Strong writing and editing skills are pre-requisite, along with a command of fundamental marketing strategies, web and social media platforms, and reporting methodologies. The SDMO must understand principles of nonprofit governance, constituent engagement, and relationship cultivation. The SDMO must be highly organized with the ability to multitask and demonstrate resourcefulness. Effectively managing overlapping and competing priorities in order to meet deadlines while not compromising quality is a must.
The SDMO’s Initial responsibilities will include:
Project Management, Workflow, Coordination and Oversight
Internal and external communications/editorial review
Quality assurance and accountability
Calendaring (Master calendar, internal/external updates/newsletters, marketing, meetings, events)
Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Building
Constituent and Influencer Outreach
Gathering data for marketing initiatives
Identifying and managing vendors for special needs
Work plan development, review, metrics, progress reports
Professional development, employee benefits, employee policies and procedures
Investigating new opportunities
Assisting the CEO with Special Projects
The ideal candidate will hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field and preferably an MBA or graduate degree in a related field. He or she will have a minimum of 7 years of management experience with increasingly higher levels of responsibility and autonomy in a nonprofit organization or business setting where he or she was involved at the senior staff level in diverse administrative operations specifically including marketing/communications.
The candidate should demonstrate both knowledge and applied practice in the areas of communications, marketing, project management, vendor selection and management, supervising subordinates across different levels and functions, overseeing programs, developing new initiatives, building and managing budgets, and identifying opportunities for growth and new revenue. Prior knowledge, experience, and contacts within the built environment (interior design, architecture, and construction) and understanding of the related regulatory structure are highly valued.
As a small office (5-7 staff) within an organization that has experienced significant growth, employees wear many “hats” and are expected to step-in where needed. The role and responsibilities of the position will evolve in alignment with the candidate’s skill set and organizational need.
To apply: Submit resume and cover letter to: email@example.com by June 28, 2019. Your cover letter should describe your unique skills and professional qualities, your ideal work setting, and the key characteristics of the working relationship between you and the CEO within which you would thrive as the Senior Director of Marketing and Operations. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and applicants will only be contacted if there is an interest in further exploring the candidate’s background and fit for the position.
