Leveraging scientific expertise to manage complex programs and partnerships that support the organization’s mission to end breast cancer.
Manages a portfolio of Komen’s relationships with other non-profit organizations as well as a small portfolio of sponsored programs/partnerships grants and serves as a key liaison to strategic partner organizations and coalitions.
Suggests strategies for improving existing partnerships and evaluating new partnership opportunities for mission investment or to leverage research expertise, communications strategies, or other resources.
Managing research or patient-focused projects, initiatives, and events, as assigned.
Manages cross-disciplinary projects and initiatives (e.g., science reviews, think tanks) to convene key opinion leaders, explore critical issues in breast health/breast cancer, and develop evidence-based strategies for Komen involvement, as assigned.
Acquires and maintains broad knowledge of the organization and its mission programs.
Contributes to the development of donor proposals, pitch documents, presentations, and other materials to assist in revenue-generating activities seeking support for Komen’s mission programs
Contributes to communications about Komen’s mission investment, particularly its strategic partnerships and programs, by working with Komen Evaluation Team in tracking and evaluating outcomes and promising discoveries and in developing and implementing strategies and novel approaches for illustrating the impact of Komen's mission investments.
Proactively identifies news outcomes of strategic partnerships and collaborative initiatives, and coordinates announcements, press releases, and other content with Komen Mission Team and Communications Department.
Produces reports, presentations, or other content on assigned programs and initiatives, for both scientific and lay audiences, as needed. Assists with development of newsletters, briefing documents and other communications, as needed. Translates complex scientific language into lay updates for donor reports, website, and other communication vehicles as needed.
Minimum Experience Required
Doctoral degree in Biomedical field or Public Health
2+ years of experience in related role in non-profit administration and/or project management
Expertise in cancer research
Expertise in breast cancer highly desired
Excellent project management and communication skills, including strong writing and public speaking skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Capable and comfortable managing shifting priorities in a rapidly changing and environment. Highly innovative and organized.
