The Instructional Technologist works as a member of the Instructional Design Team. Working in close connection with the Instructional Design Director, s/he is a successful collaborator between the Instructional Design Director, faculty members, members of the Lipscomb Online, and students. The Instructional Technologist will maintain these key partnerships to effectively implement the vision and direction of academic technology. S/he will also participate in other relevant technology projects, trainings, and meetings as a member of the Instructional Design Team and perform other duties as assigned.
The Instructional Technologist assists Instructional Designers and Faculty in building and maintaining online courses. Using tools embedded in the Learning Management System (LMS) as well as multimedia production tools and collaboration tools, the Instructional Technologist implements course designs and revisions, assists with course setup for each term, and helps faculty troubleshoot technical issues. The Instructional Technologist will also assist in the development of support resources for faculty and students and explore new technologies relevant to the online classroom.
The Instructional Technologist should have strong familiarity with the principles of education and experience with Learning Management Systems. Self-direction, attention to detail, and organizational skills are also important, as he or she will track, prioritize, and follow up on multiple projects to ensure course revisions are completed accurately, and that issues are resolved quickly. The Instructional Technologist should also have great communication skills, enthusiasm for helping others resolve issues, and a desire to work in a fast-paced team environment.
