Overview: Habitat for Humanity Chicago is a nonprofit affordable homeownership organization that partners with families and neighborhood residents to build homes and revitalize communities in Chicago with a primary focus on the Southside.
Position Summary: The Development Associate drives the successful execution of donation processing and stewardship and provides department support through a combination of ongoing and special projects. S/he works accurately and efficiently to provide donors with a high-quality giving experience.

Gift Processing and Donor Stewardship (60%)
Ensure the integrity of donation processing procedures, pledge recovery and assigned stewardship efforts, making certain the Development team misses no opportunities for meeting its gift and stewardship goals.
Department Support (30%)
Act as primary support to Development team functions through a combination of ongoing and special projects, such as prospect identification, data collection, donor reporting, and inquiry management.
Leadership and Teamwork (10%)
As a key Development team member, contribute to our organizational health through enthusiastic collaboration, leadership and personal integrity.
Reports To: Development Manager
Hours: Full-time/ 40 hours per week. Typical office hours are 8am-4pm. Some weekend and evening work is required, depending on program and event needs. Adjusting schedule as needed to balance hours is encouraged.
Environment: The Habitat Chicago office is located at Cermak Rd. and Carpenter St. in Chicago. It is accessible by car or by public transit. This position will have a desk, computer, and phone line in an open office environment.
Conditions: Must be able to lift 25 pounds and work at a computer for long periods of time.
Training: The position will begin with an onboarding period to become familiar with the organization’s work and policies; s/he will be trained on the specifics of the role through a combination of in-person, online and written trainings and will be expected to take the initiative to review materials as needed and seek understanding of new developments in order to perform her/his responsibilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Organization, attention to detail, ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
High level of computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and Constituent Relationship Management databases (Salesforce preferred).
Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills, with the ability to draw useful conclusions from data sets.

Data entry, database administration, project management, and/or donor stewardship.
Understanding and enthusiasm for Habitat for Humanity’s vision and willingness to advocate its mission.
Understanding of challenges facing populations with low incomes, or willingness to learn.
Understanding of the Habitat for Humanity mission and operations, or willingness to learn.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree plus one year relevant experience OR three years relevant experience.
Nonprofit experience highly preferred.

Additional Salary Information: Hourly position ranging from $20-$22 per hour, depending on experience. 30+ vacation/sick/personal days per year. 90% employer paid health insurance; access to dental, vision and 401k plans.
This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The incumbent is eligible for overtime pay or compensatory time according to Habitat for Humanity Chicago policy. Further, the employee must submit timesheets that accurately reflect all hours worked.
