DIRECTOR OF THE COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS AT MIT (CAMIT) , Office of the Arts , to steward the relationship between volunteer members of the organization and the various aspects of the arts at MIT and administer all of the programs funded by the council's budget. Will work closely with the executive director of arts initiatives, the associate provost responsible for the arts, and the CAMIT executive committee on implementing long-range planning and the strategic vision, recruiting new members, and the overall fiscal and operational activities of the council; act as a liaison between CAMIT members and students, faculty, staff, and other CAMIT members; provide timely communication of arts news, events and programs, both inside and outside of the council's purview; create a professional and convivial atmosphere for the accomplishment of CAMIT business; and communicate CAMIT news and programs to the greater MIT community.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; four years' experience in arts administration, alumni relations, and/or resource development in higher education or similar nonprofit setting; proven leader who takes initiative; ability to work collaboratively in a complex university and alumni network in a team-based environment; administrative experience at a decision-making level; ability to maintain confidentiality; tact and diplomacy when working with a variety of constituencies (e.g., faculty, students, alumni volunteers, donors, MIT staff); ability to work in a highly collaborative and team-based environment; excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; experience managing a budget and fund-raising; ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities; and experience with project management of complex and high-profile fund-raising events.
