Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of the Margaret Sloss Center for Women and Gender Equity, the Assistant Director will develop and oversee programmatic, educational, and engagement activities sponsored by the unit to benefit Iowa State University students, staff and faculty. The Sloss Center's current work focuses on the following areas: feminist leadership; support and advocacy; programming and education; community and connection; and collaborations and coalitions.
Specific responsibilities of this position include the following: Develop, plan, promote, manage, implement and evaluate programs; collaborate with other campus partners on activities and initiatives that respond to issues affecting gender inequity and its intersection with other forms of inequity and marginalization; and partner with community organizations to expand the Sloss Center's reach and impact beyond the campus. This position manages the Center's programming budget in collaboration with the Director and co-supervises graduate students, work study students, and interns. This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 6 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master’s degree with an orientation to higher education, women’s studies, nonprofit administration, psychology, sociology or other applicable field. - Experience in higher education. - Experience in nonprofit programming or administration.
