This research opportunity is with the McElrath Lab within the Vaccine & Infectious Disease Division. The technician will work under the direction of higher level laboratory personnel in support of developing assays for the characterization of B cell repertoires in the context of HIV vaccine trials. In particular, they will assist in developing and implementing high-throughput B cell receptor sequencing assays, including BCR PCR, Illumina NGS library preparation and QC, micro neutralization screening, PCR cloning and transient transfection for monoclonal antibody production and functional screening. They will also be responsible for performing a variety of molecular and cellular biology techniques including multiplex PCR, single-cell RT-PCR, maintenance of feeder cells under aseptic conditions, and RNA isolation. They will be involved in data management, interpretation and reporting on experimental results and assist with data presentation for lab meetings, conferences and manuscripts.
The incumbent should be capable of maintaining detailed laboratory records, analyzing data, and reporting experimental results. They will interact closely with other laboratory staff to coordinate both up and down stream processing of samples and needs to a be a good team player. They will assist in the development and maintenance of laboratory quality control (QC) methods and records, which may require adherence to GCLP (Good Clinical Lab Practice) standards.
