The Director of Resource Development is responsible for raising the funds necessary for the operation of Breathe Pennsylvania through individual gifts, federal, state, and other grants, special events, and corporate and foundation support. The Director of Resource Development promotes ties with the community while establishing and maintaining year-round relationships with traditional fundraising sources, while cultivating new sources that will increase annual fundraising.
This position reports to the Executive Director.
Lead the senior staff and Board in the planning and execution of fundraising activities for Breathe Pennsylvania.
Implement fundraising activities including programs, special events, and annual campaigns to meet the planned annual budget income of Breathe Pennsylvania.
Identify, strategize, and lead efforts to gain and maintain donations from estates and trusts. This includes managing existing relationships and expanding the number of estates and trusts that donate.
Write and submit proposals to foundations and other sources of funding for program support. This includes managing existing relationships and expanding the number of foundations that provide grants.
Write and submit proposals to the State of Pennsylvania for annual grant support.
Identify, strategize, and lead efforts to gain and maintain major donor contributions. This includes managing existing relationships through donor stewardship and expanding the number of federal, state, and foundations that provide grants.
Identify, strategize, and lead efforts to gain and maintain corporate donations.
Coordinate personal giving from members of the Breathe Pennsylvania’s Board of Directors.
Solicit and process gifts from individual donors through the annual appeal.
Development and implement the planned giving program for Breathe Pennsylvania.
Identify, strategize, and lead efforts to gain and maintain the revenue opportunities within the programs conducted by Breathe Pennsylvania, including sponsorship opportunities.
Produce and make available regular (monthly) activity reports about fundraising activities, contacts, cultivations, and results.
Maintain an accurate donor database, including updates, and recommend necessary technology investments to capitalize on this information. This includes incorporating processes to improve individual giving.
Log appropriate professional and constituent contact information.
Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.
Minimum five years’ experience with demonstrated, concurrent, and escalating success in fundraising to support nonprofits at a financial level at or above that necessary for Breathe Pennsylvania’s annual budget plan.
Four-year degree in related field anticipated; academic preparation in marketing, sales, or directly related field most desired.
Must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both one-to-one and group situations.
Must possess and maintain a valid Pennsylvania’s driver license.
Incumbent should be able to lift and carry twenty (20) pounds from office to parking lot (250 feet).
