SENIOR SPECIAL EVENTS STRATEGIST , Resource Development (RD)-Office of Communications and Events , to partner on the strategy, planning, and execution of events for the cultivation, recognition, and stewardship of major donors and prospective donors to MIT. Will focus on high-profile events from MIT's schools, departments, labs, and centers, in addition to managing other assigned RD events; and manage all RD events for the new MIT Stephen A. Schwarzman College of Computing and work collaboratively with the college's dean and colleagues across MIT in strategizing and planning events associated with the opening of the college and beyond, influencing decisions based on specialty and advance knowledge in higher education and nonprofit events.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; at least seven years' experience working with complex events; experience overseeing a broad spectrum of responsibilities--from overall event strategy within a fund-raising context to creating and implementing operational plans and systems; expert-level strategic event planning skills and experience serving as a technical and logistical resource to colleagues; ability to develop content to communicate key priorities and skill running programs and managing speakers, VIP guests, and event flow; ability to do accurate, high-level work in short timeframe; strategic approach to the events function; excellent collaborator, influencer, and facilitator with senior MIT leadership, important MIT donors, MIT colleagues, and internal/external providers/vendors; excellent organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail; ability to handle issues that are complex and without clear precedent and analyze and interpret data; and ability to lift 40 pounds and remain stationary for long periods of time.
